Symbolism
So I held our love
for quite some time.
Then when I gave it to you,
so you could embrace it,
you were a little confused.
You thought I didn’t want it any longer.
But, of course,
that was not the case.
I just wanted
to let you experience it.
Experience the way it feels to keep it
in your precious hands,
To adore it.
And you did.
You wore our love proudly,
through third and fourth.
And it looked absolutely lovely on you,
because it was ours.
But when it came time
to leave fifth for sixth,
You took it off,
and abandoned it on your desk.
You turned your back on it.
You forgot about our love.
How could you?
I picked it out
purposely for you,
Knowing I would give it to you subsequently.
But then again,
it was merely a symbol…
