God: A Conversation
Alone in my room I sat upon my bed
And out of respect I lowered my head
For I desired upon this darkened night
To talk with God, to set things right
I asked Him simple questions you see
Seeking answers for someone like me
Of why it seemed He has turned away
To the suffering of mankind every day
Or sometimes why it seems to be
No rhyme or reason to this reality
And if there truly will ever be
An afterlife for you and me
His voice was soon heard in my head
A powerful essence I'd thought long dead
And on this night, a night unlike any other
He spoke these words without a bother
"My son, you are a part of Me
Just like the land, just like the sea
A creation of Mine that I truly do cherish
As such, your essence will never perish
But things that happen in this life
The death, suffering and the strife
Are not the results of My mighty hand
They are the results of ignorant man
I gave the knowledge long years ago
I created the brain independently so
But man makes the choices, the very means
To live or die as human beings
The knowledge to make a paradise
Is in his mind of his own device
But with the loss of each human soul
I take them to My heart and make them whole
For I am not a monster you might have thought
To turn My back, that's my purpose not
But to allow man to become someday
A God like Me in every way
I hope My answers are something right
To help you sleep upon this night"
And then I closed my talk with Him
And asked for grace ending with an amen

Hi my name is Scott Chadderdon I wrote a poem along the same lines as yours it's called Journey. I wish you would read it and let me know what you think. As far as your poem God:A Conversation I really like the way you rhyme it seems to be a lost art. You must have spent a lot of time thinking before you wrote. you are very right when you say that God Isn't the direct cause of our suffering. And that he remembers us after we die.you must have studied the Bible or you wouldn't know this. One last thing he remembers us by Jesus's promise to call all those in the memorial tombs to come out.
You know something? I wrote this in a matter of a few minutes. It just flowed out and I barely could keep up with it. I have studied religion, both as religion and as history. I'm not a real good attendee of services, but do feel that there is a Supreme Essence.
Thanks.
That is a very capturing poem, even for a non believer like me. Excellent job. 5/5
