As I Lay Dying

As I lay dying with the hum of the machines
I reflect upon my life and what it truly means
I wonder if the choices made were a proper one
Or simply mistakes that someone thought were fun
As the life force ebbs from my body I ponder further still
Like a viewing of my life's story while sitting upon a hill
I see my very first remembered thought of someone dear
I wonder if it was my mother or another family member near
Operations meant to save my life were many and saving so
Creating the man lying here that everyone was to know
The many times I faced my death only to be spared another day
Yet now I await in silence for my life to slip away
As I lay dying I open my heart for all to see and know
To feel the love remaining for everyone to show
My last request as my life ebbs slowly away and fades out
Don't go quietly into the dark, go out with a mighty shout

Wonderfully written piece. I especially liked the way you described being on life support without actually saying it.
You can tell that it was written from your heart to your reader's heart. Very emotional read and thank you for sharing a piece of your heart....

This is really sad. It touched me because my aunt is dying right now infact. It meant a lot. Excellent writing :)

I like it...it is truly about sadness and pain. Getting lost within yourself. Very good.
