A Christmas Eve Visitor

I penned this while out shopping(rather waiting while my wife shopped):

A Christmas Eve Visitor

Late on Christmas Eve one year
I met a gent you all know so dear
He had a beard of snowy white
And wore a suit of red so bright
His laughter rang through out the place
A joyful man with an elfin face
We sat down for a midnight treat
Of cocoa and cookies oh so sweet
He told me of his legend true
Of why he visits me and you

"Twas long ago and far away
But I recall like it was yesterday
I gave gifts to all in the winter season
When times were harsh or whatever reason"

For his love he was given the gift
Forever he would cause spirits to uplift
For just as One gave his life for all
His giving was a simple gesture small
He is immortal for those that believe
And then he smiled and took his leave
Yes, now indeed I can reveal
To everyone, Santa Claus is real
