The Legend of Christmas (or Santa Claus, the truth)

The Legend of Christmas (or Santa Claus, the truth)

Twas long ago once upon a cold December day
That a young man came along and had this to say:
“The people here are closed up and huddling from the cold
No one will venture out these days; no one could be so bold
Yet as I pass the houses. I hear the young ones cry so low
The winter is the worst for them of this I truly know
So I will make some special toys and put them on my sled
With these winter reindeer to help to each house I’ll be led
And I will give out gifts to all from young ones to the old
To help relive their hardship on these winter nights of cold”
So that is how it started so many years ago I’m told
About a generous man who braved the winter bold
Now as time would pass and the story was repeated
Differences were added to make the story specially treated
From furry coats and buckskin boots the changes came about
To the present image of a red clad gent with a boisterous shout
Who greets the season with such a joy and rides a magic sleigh
And is often heard to say Merry Christmas to all on this special day
Now do not get me wrong and state that this person does not exist
Or else I’ll have to report you with your name on the naughty list
