A Letter To My Navy Boy

To you, dear friend,
I've something to say,
Something that ought you should know.

It's been on my mind
For a couple of days
And I think it's time to let it go.

The long and the short
Is that I don't want you to go
And leave me in wallow and worry.

You're just too young
And you've much more to grow.
Don't do so in such a hurry.

I love you too much
To see you get hurt,
Or put your life on the line.

So before you leave me
Think of this first,
Dear friend, I wish you were mine.
