School- Passing
A crowded hallway in school
as loud as a parade
and in it walks someone
who doesn't even know my name
Our gaze meets as quickly
as quickly as it disappears
Fore behind my smile
I hide my fears
My fears that keep me quiet
and still
against my very own will
And as we pass eachother
my gaze turns away....................................
And so you shall walk through your life never knowing
about me
or rather
not wanting to see
what is beneath my smile,
is there more to me?

How... awesome. This is exactly the sort of thing I think about -- why don't people on the street stop and just talk to each other for a while? There are so many chances to get to know someone - waiting for the bus, on a train, walking down the street - and yet no one really makes the effort to get to know someone. It's just so odd. If all those people who met each other but never knew each other got together, I wonder what could be accomplished.
