joy and love and rage and hate,
these don't mean much at any rate.
see, pleasure and pain by any name
in the end are much the same.
emotions change and so might you,
but actions i trust to be more true.
so instead of anything i can feel,
i put my faith in things more real:
loyalty, strength and intellect,
these are things i can respect.
emotions that change from day to day
will make a heart bitter, or scare it away.
but proven honor can set things right
and keep a heart's flames burning bright.
