Hope?
i think you're just as screwed up as me.
your eyes have stories to tell of the pain you've felt
but you're looking for new memories.
we don't expect much because we've already opened
our hearts up once not prepared to lose.
now we're just ready, and waiting, and accustomed to bad news.
but i can see a little hope left in you,
and there's hope for me too.
enough left to take another chance,
to face our fears hand in hand.
can you see the light in my eyes
when i'm looking straight into yours.
i want new stories to tell of the moments i fell
so in love with you.
i don't expect much because of everything i've been through
but my heart's opening up and prepared for something new.
now i'm ready, and waiting, and accustomed to wanting you.

This is wonderful! The first stanza seemed a bit stilted at first but with the second and third stanzas it became so fluid... and the lines "I want new stories to tell of the moments I fell so in love with you..."
It was one of those emotional lines that pulled at my stomach out of nowhere.
Great write!
