I Thought I'd Never See The Day

play the field of false desires all you want,
at the end of the day you're left distraught.
spit your lies and swallow down the truth,
you'll only drown before you decide you're through.
fast track to moving on, but that cold heart
of yours knows there's something wrong.
when it's time to close your eyes,
that doesn't shut down your mind.
the curse of many sleepless nights.
these thoughts of yours seem to never run out,
only a gun to your head would get you to shout
or put you down.
you say to yourself, "don't show you're not
ready to let go, it's just eating away at your
seemingly empty soul."
you're ruthless just to hide your mistakes
when life doesn't hand it to you your way.
when there's a chance to get out,
you take it with little doubt
making you that coward.
how can you live with yourself?
the clocks ticking to undo what you've done now.
