Addiction for Paradise
Life goes out of focus,
Time speeds and slows,
Awareness dissipates,
Body becomes sluggish,
Train of thought runs amuck.
All you need my dear friend
Is but only a couple small capsules,
The pain goes away for a bit
Life seemingly coming into clarity,
But there is one problem.
What you thought was clarity
Was only an illusion,
One to decisively override reality
Making you think your problems were gone,
Yet they're still in the same place.
Life goes out of focus,
Time speeds and slows,
Awareness dissipates,
Body becomes sluggish,
Train of thought runs amuck.
All you did
Was temporarily numb the pain,
Living in a disillusioned paradise
Crafted with amorous desires
And sorrowful situations.
As reality slowly fades back into focus
The pain pounces on you once more,
Tearing your soul asunder with vicious force,
You look at those magical capsules
And feed your addiction for paradise.
