She's Only A Woman

Look past her twisted heart,
her wounded heart,
that beats with trembling lies.
Hiding her "untrusting" need
for you to see through her disguise...

Hold steadfast that glare,
as you stare into those sinking eyes
that have cried a million tears
because she's seen
life's most dreaded fears
come to pass...

She's only a woman--
with an aching soul,
who can't let go
of visions from the past;
that cut like glass
into her flesh...

She's only flesh and blood,
Just formed of mud
like you and I,
with so much pain to contemplate
and there's just no way
to make it easier...

Look past her tangled mind
her weary mind,
whose "purest" thoughts are raped.
Showing only what she wants you to see
and to believe her to really be...

Hold steadfast her hand
as only you can-- with sweaty palms,
you hold on tight to ease her pain,
because to give her strength
is all you'll ever gain
for your trouble...

She's only a woman--
with an aching soul,
who can't let go
of visions from the past;
that cut like glass
into her flesh...

She's only flesh and blood,
Just formed of mud
like you and I,
with so much pain to contemplate
and there's just no way
to make it easier...

I absolutely love this, how true of so many women. It's beautifully written, beautifully worded, I love it!
