I Watched IT Happen
IT's sharp-nailed boney fingers, in luring jesture, start to bend,
IT makes you feel so special as IT says, "Come be my friend".
IT whispers, "no more sorrow" and promises numbness to all lifes' pain,
IT senses your heart's weakness, but it's your soul IT hopes to gain.
IT says IT has some friends that IT will introduce you to.
They will come in many forms and they are waiting just for you.
They will take away your sadness and they will make you feel alright.
As long as you are with my friends, they'll give you new insight.
They will come from different families and each have their own appeal.
They won't care if you aren't perfect or if you cheat or lie or steal.
They don't care about your color or how much money that you make.
All they really care about is who's soul IT can take.
I sat back and watched addiction slowly take control of you.
A little here, a little there, just enough to get you through.
All I see now is a stranger that I just don't recognize;
The month's of self-affliction reflect the sadness in your eyes.
I sat back and watched a demon creep into my young one's soul,
But time has come, enough's enough and I'm taking back control!
You may not recognize me, for I've been buried in the sand.
Because I've had my blinders on to cope with life's demands.
I sat back and watched this IT consume the child that I once knew
IT latched on to your weakness and now IT's using you!
I know it won't be easy to do what I must do.
I cannot be your friend right now, and be your mother too.
You've had your way for much too long and I'm taking up the slack.
As your mom, I'm here to help you, I PRAY love will bring you back.
I know you'll want to hate me and you'll probably say you do.
Just know my love for you is greater than any hurt you put me through.
I'll stand up to this monster who has filled your life with lies.
IT says IT is your friend, but IT's the DEVIL in disguise.
I know I'm just your mother, but I'm also your best friend.
The one who'll never leave your side no matter how IT ends.

EXCELLENT!!!!! You've done a great job here. What a painful experience, though a BLESSING of unconditional Love. Definately, 5 star worthy.... ~PEACE OUT
