Don't Try

You don't understand me
You try too hard to show me that you do
In my eyes, I am not acceptable in this family
I cannot connect with you no matter what
Hiding my
feelings, my opinions
Is all I ever do
Poetry has become my escape from here
It is all my own words and feelings
No matter what I say
Every one of my poems
Come straight from the heart
There will be a day where I show my depth
Until then, you shall stay in the dark
