I Wrote Our Names In the Sand

With the sun setting before me, turning the sky bright pink;
The smell of cedar fills my nose from the bon fires behind me.
As that frozen ocean breeze picks up, I pull you close.
Don’t you see?
I have written our names in the sand with a heart around them.
All to show that I love you
But the waves of time have come crashing in and washed away:
My love, my soul, my heart.
As if it was a child’s hand crafted sand castle,
Built too close to the oceans roar.
These past few years have drifted by ever so slowly
Like the drift wood afloat from Africa heading towards America
How can the world ever, ever, ever go on if your not here?
Yet your voice still fills my ears when you say you love me.
It goes unseen, but I wrote out names
In the sand surrounded by a heart.
