A New Beginning

As a new life is created in this world,
A new beginning has formed for my future.
I sit and wait in my warm comfort zone,
Yearning to meet you in a short time.
This night, this date;
Has me on edge, who knows how it will go.
I am dressed in blue, to show
I am happy and willing for you.
The drive to the theater is a blue,
Only a transitional stage filled
With massive amounts of adrenaline.
Arriving has got me so nervous,
"What if she doesn't like me?" or
"What if she flakes on me?"
These questions have the power
To bring a man to his knees,
Maybe even end his life.

I cannot take what is not mine
Nor force what is not I.
My hopes are high for a perfect date:
A long conversation, great food and
An amazing movie.

You show up in a stunning outfit,
Blue just like mine;
I can only hope that you are trying to tell
Me something without the use of your tongue.
Your hair, cascading down and around your face,
Has put me in a blissful trance.

Dinner seemed to drag on, but i enjoyed it:
The food, the view and the conversation,
I underestimated how well dinner would go.
The bill did not even distress me,
For you are worth every cent spent.

Time has come to encounter two hours of
Close proximity with an angel;
My palms grow clammy and i become unsure.
This is a very bitter-sweat situation:
I am a heart beat away, yet don't know
If I should put my arm around you or not.
The right thing is to only lean into you,
To show I know you are there.

But it would be more enjoyable to hold
Your hand or feel you push into my side.
Every-time our eyes meet, my heart stops.
Should i try to steal a kiss or not?
Why must it be so hard to make a good
And the right impression?
I would rather die than to
Mess this up between you and I.

The movie ended with a very romantic ending,
Something like how I wanted this night to go.
At a slow and steady pace, as if walking on
The beach watching the sunset,
We make our way to your car.

That final good-bye is drawing nearer with
Each heart beat, each step and each lifetime.
Your embrace is filled with joy and fulfillment,
Yet I know that when I relinquish this embrace,
A part of me will leave with you.
For I do not know what tomorrow will bring.

Behold, as this new beginning comes to what
I think is it's end, I am left with a warm
Heart, a sweet scent in my nose,
And a huge smile.
