The Past

The ghost of yesterday
Is knocking at my door
But I will not answer
I don't live there anymore
The past has haunted me
With no end in sight
But the day has come
That I put up a fight
It will not be easy
I must be strong
The battle for my sanity
Has gone on too long
Who are you to take
And never to give back
Taking all I have
Making up for what you lack
The wings of angels lift me
Preparing me for fight
There'll be no more lost
The end will be tonight
And of course you are afraid
I've never fought back before
I give all I've got
Until you're lying in the floor
Battles you have won
But the war was mine
This is my life
And I'm leaving you behind
While I know you'll be back
I'll take this as a win
I'll take over the reins now
My life will be mine again
