Lilies
Heart feels heavy
Ready for the break
I hear myself beg silently
Just make it clean for my sake
Knock on the door
Your face appears
That knowing smile
Silence ringing in my ears
I see the fresh lilies
In their pretty vase
That always adorn your table
Used to remind me of your grace
You say the words
It's ok, I was ready
Your arms enclose me
My limbs feel heavy
You're whispering to me
It will be alright
All I can concentrate on
Is that bittersweet sight
Those lilies in their vase
So simple, clean
So pretty
Like a sleepless dream
And there they sit
In a daze I realize
Through their simple beauty
They're only waiting to die
How tragic
How ironic can it be
As you break my heart
That is all I can see
Those pretty flowers
A tear falls from my eye
Life is much more
Than looking pretty and waiting to die
I refuse to let you kill me so
I push you gently aside
I turn my back on the pain
And leave, my head held high
