Reclaiming my innocence

I have seen it all,
Blood, sex, drugs and rock n’ roll,
And I despised everything about it,
Even though I did it all,
Even though I never felt tall.
In the mirror
I gazed into my eyes;
the dark rims,
The hooding brow,
The deepening lines,
Ritual self-deprecation,
Self-devaluation,
But all the while
I danced backwards in my mind
Old MTvideo on rewind.
Spiking and shooting,
Abuse, self-abuse,
A vicious cycle bleeds me,
I must reclaim my innocence
If I am to change,
To survive.
