This gift I give
If I said I loved you,
it would be as though it had been said a thousand times before,
by every beating heart, behind every hearth door.
If I said I loved you with every fibre of my being
With the setting of the sun, to cool its red-passioned parts,
With the rising sun, to heat its frosted rims,
With the falling rain, tears of longing when we were apart,
With falling snow, faith in a Spring tomorrow,
With all that is heart, endless strength.
If I said I loved, it would be with understanding
That love is its own new day.
If I gave this gift to you,
Would you return it
Or would you keep it locked inside yourself?

Oh my...
I have read through a few of your poems in the last half hour or so, and I find myself at a loss for words. This is perplexing for any writer, but at the same time, no words need to be said other than "wow". When you can make someone stop in their tracks and take notice of the feelings, the imagery, the beauty of your craft, then you have done something amazing. You have painted things in my mind which did not exist there before. This is why I love good poetry. I haven't found too much on this site that can compare to this caliber of work (not just this piece but the others that I read of yours as well), but then maybe I need to look harder.
Either way, thank you for sharing your works!
Thank you for the kind comment.
