Unsatisfied

As I look out the window I see
A couple walks by holding hands
Next to them is the grass
Thriving on the carefully thrown trash
A janitor walks tall and proud removing
The presents left especially for him
A girl walks by and drops a bottle
To add to his labor.

Cars of all types cloud the lot
Just like the skies overhead
Girls in dresses, guys in suits
Preparing for the day's conventions
A new council to rule the class
I struggle to listen to history
But the world draws me back

The sun peaks unto the land
And the lot is filled with a light glow
But all the same the passerby notice naught
Unsatisfied the sun hides behind its protective shield
And still the day remains the same
Calm, silent, untouched.
