Rooftop

I sit atop the roof
I stare down upon the world
All around me the birds are chirping
Getting ready for the early light
Its as if nobody can see me
Up in this small spot
I'm in the open, but nobody is looking
I can see the world so much differently
With the wind in my face and no worries
I am not high up, but just far enough
Released from the pains of life
Even if its just an instant
Up here, I'm free
My mind opens up and I can finally think
But oddly enough, after only a few minutes
I miss the worries, and miss the pains
So I hop on down, and return
To the world, to you.
