Split In Two
Mama,
I don't know where to go
Daddy,
I need you to help me
Mama,
I don't know what to say
Daddy,
Help me find my way
Because, today I was looking in the mirror
And I saw my reflection split in two
The image on the right was screaming
The other, smiling the most beautiful smile
But my question is this, which one is me?
Which one will I be?
Neither is worse, nor none the better
But together, a perfect fit
Why am I split? How can this be fixed?
Mama,
I don't know what to do
Daddy,
You might not even care
Mama,
I don't know what to feel
Daddy,
I don't know if you're even there
I'm lost on the path of life
Walking on a road thats breaking apart
I look further down into wilderness
And see there are again two paths
On one I can see her
Holding arms high and welcome
Waiting for me to come...
On the other I see you and rest of my family
You all stand so still and calm
Which way am I to choose?
Girl, If I choose your way
How long will I get to stay?
Can it last forever
Will it even be a day?
Can you tell me? And if so...
HOW DO YOU KNOW?
How do you know?
Daddy, If I follow your trail
Will you ever tell me I'm your boy?
Can I ever be the man you want me to be?
Will she come in after me?
Can I have her, and walk a different path?
Can you tell me? And if so...
HOW DO YOU KNOW?
How do you know?
