The Shadow Voice

I am twisted, I am torn
I am the fire that eats at your soul
I have many names, I am all your shames
I am your heartbeat when it's racing

When you step in darkened alleys
I follow you through all the shadows
I creak and crack, until you glance back
And yet while you don't see me
You still know I'm there, hiding in the air

I am your hopes, freshly shattered
Your feelings, easily battered
I am that silence that never truly quiets
I am what happens when nightmare's begin
I am your torment, with you until the end

Now lean in close to hear my secret
Dont look back, I need you intact
Who am I... this pain inside?
I am suffering, agony, and dispair
By now it should be clear, I am your FEAR!
