Ode to the Foolish
Oh you foolish man
When will you finally see
It's not the cheap laugh that you provide
But who you are on the inside
I don't think of you as weird
I think you're simply mad
Time and time again you provide laughs and joy for others but you have none of your own
If you were a river you'd let the others drink until you were as dry as a bone
You disclose nothing about yourself
You expect others to leave you, deep down that's exactly what you want
Foolish man you should have known I'd stay
I'm not going to be as easy to push away
I know what you hide from seeing eyes
I've got skeletons in my closet to
All this time you've been lost, never knew who you were
Each morning you wake, checking if the fence around you is secure
You're afraid that five years from now, you won't know who you've become
You fear that you'll lose yourself so completely that the person you once were will die like the other people in this world
You need to understand that it's alright to laugh, love, cry, change, embrace, and be who you want to be
You just have to be willing to take off your mask and let others see

Thank you. I appreciate it very much.
i like it alot it reminds me of a more elaborate version
of
Paul Laurence Dunbar's "We Wear the Mask"
really neat though
Thank you for your feedback. It is greatly appreciated.
Love the poem, especially that line the most- about it's alright to laugh, love, cry, change, embrace, etc... very nice
