40 miles an hour

distant reminders of daily routines
circulate through this mass of escape.
i've tried all the old ways
and now i'm here.
upon my lips, a grin of satisfaction
and dross upon my tongue.
though the pressure remains,
the confusion is replaced.
my mind's new resident is unknown...
so i'll just keep laughing,
taking it in.
