For me, I seem to produce my best writing when I'm alone and have music playing softly in the background. Being free of distractions, especially in the morning, allows me to focus on my writing. Solitude and coffee seem to be my best motivators for getting the job done.

4 AM, good morning to you,Bob. it's nice to know you write good stuff at such early hours of the morning. i do write, too, at those early morning hours, but i don't know whether my writings are good pieces or what? it's not only at those early morning hours when i write,it should be by the calm sea on starry nights.

I to am like that. My thoughts seem to rush and so does my creativity. I just can't seem to write during the day. So nights are the key for me. Glad to know sleep deprevation comes in handy.

I had that experience as well. Back then, I had some sleepless nights and it's like psychedliic state of mind from 3am onwards...maybe such state of body and mind is comparable to taking some "grass' Stuff :)

hello bob mortland.
what makes me write good is when im upset, or life just get me going. other wise until a current experience i didn't even know i could write poetry. so if you don't mind i wold much appreciate it, if you could take a look at what i have wrote so far and tell me what you think.

Hey Bob, drink more coffee...it's too late to go to bed. LOL I also find myself sitting at my desk in the early morning hours writing poems to tell about a dream I had,(check out my poem "Sleepless Nights") for example. I had this dream that was so real that I had to get up and write about it immediately. I am unable to get much sleep at night and found that I can focus better when everyone is asleep, the phone isn't ringing, and company isn't knocking at the door. I just wanted you to know that your not alone. Good night Bob.
