poetry.com is fake. Its just a rip-off scam to take all your money for some useless awards that don't really mean anything. A site like this is where you can recieve real comments from real poets and reach out to real people.

It would be awesome if you had a contest through Poetrywithmeaning.com, but make sure its the people's opinions that come first... poetry.com is about the automated computer system. Which is why I have recieved the same award for six different poems.

contest are fun if they arent taken too far. after a certain point they become "dog-eat-dog" and you lose friends and fans alike. but yeah i think that would be cool

in my opinion a contest is just really kind of like "beauty is in the eye of the beholder " type thing , what 1 person believes to be a beautiful painting , another may think isn't worth being in the gallery , it would have to depend on the judges experience , knowledge, and education in the art of poetry to have a real meaning in the outcome.(j m h o)

GOOD IDEA!!! SINCE IT'S 2AM AND I AM VERY WIRED ON COFFEE, I GOT AN IDEA FOR THE METHOD

STEP 1/ Setup a time frame for all PWM members who want to enter to sign up for it
(i.e./ Sept 1,2008 to Sept 30,2008) or perhaps less of a time period.

STEP 2/ All that signed up be allowed to enter 1 poem, they may use one that already is
uploaded on PWM or write a totally new one.

STEP 3/ All poem entries must be posted by a predetermined date. Once the poem has been
submitted, it can not be switched or modified. Once all poems have been entered
by a predetermined due date, let the voting begin!

STEP 4/ Allow all PWM members (recently joined or long time members) to have 1 vote, even
the ones who did not enter the contest.

STEP 5/ Setup a predetermined date to get votes in. Having a visible automated counter
would be a nice touch.

STEP 6/ Now sit back and enjoy a bonified poetry contest. The award would be to have the
satisfaction of seeing how your entry stacks up to other extremely talented
writers. I believe this contest would generate an increase in interest to PWM
and bring out a lot of untapped talent buried deep within ourselves.
